22ND ANNUAL NATIONAL DELEGATES CONGRESS – TTAG WEC SECTOR – END OF YEAR SECTORIAL REPORT BY MASTER EMMANUEL COSMOS KORSAH

DATE: 26TH AUGUST, 2017
VENUE: KOMENDA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

INTRODUCTION:

We are very grateful to the Almighty God for sustaining the lives of all trainees in Ghana especially Western and Central Sector and have given us the opportunity to witness the 22 Annual National Delegates Congress of TTAG. I must confess that the road to success we are witnessing today in our Sector wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of my faithful Executive members who stood by me throughout the rough and smooth times. This report contains the following headings:

DISCIPLINE, PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES , MEETINGS, GENERAL ASSEMBLY, OUTREACH, CONGRESS, ACHIEVEMENT, CHALLENGES AND CONCLUSION.

DISCIPLINE

For every association to grow there is the need for the entire members of the association especially the executive members to embrace discipline in its holistic way. It is said that with indiscipline no matter how expects employed are synchronized, there wouldn’t be any fruitful results. By this, executive members of TTAG WEC Sector have really frowned against indiscipline in the association. Several indiscipline cases among trainees such as improper dressing, drunkenness, lateness to gatherings etc. have been reduced drastically. This has contributed to the progress of the sector.

PROGRAMMES

1.SRC WEEK CELEBRATIONS: all the six colleges were able to celebrate their SRC week successfully and sector executives attended their grand durbars with presents.

2. We organized our Women Empowerment programme at Holy Child College of Education under the theme “Outstanding leadership for Development: the Role of the Female Teacher Trainee” from 16th to 18th June, 2017. Everything went on successfully.

MEETINGS

1. The sector has been able to organize five consecutive meetings with the SRC Presidents to discuss about the progress of the sector and national as a whole.

2.  We were able to attend all meetings by the national executive council

3. We have also been able to have a meeting with the Regional Minister and one member of parliament that’s Prestea  Huni-valley Constituency and the DCE of Aowin Suaman with Agona Ahanta West DCE to discuss about the progress of the sector and the association at large.

SECTOR GENERAL ASSEMBLY

A Sector General Assembly was held at Enchi College of Education in Enchi from 24th to 26th April, 2017 we had the total complement of the six colleges within the sector and the new college (Bia Lamplighter College of Education) yet to be adopted also graced the occasion and followed to national. We had a fruitful general assembly. During this meeting, a mini congress was held to elect a new coordinator for the sector. At the end of everything Honourable Donkor Felix was duly elected by the delegates as the Coordinator for the Sector.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. We have been able to create a strong rapport with the principals in the sector such that they attended all our programmes. They also released their buses to us for our programmes without taking anything from us.
  2. This year’s election is one of the peaceful elections has ever happened in the Sector.
  3. Our General Assembly and Congress were magnificent and very peaceful with everything in order.
  4. With respect to the TTAG Dues local mechanisation, Foso College of Education purchased 130 plastic chairs, Enchi College used it to purchase 40 metal drying-line poles with 12 bundle of ropes, Komenda used it for summer hat chairs and ultra-modern billboard, Wiawso used it to construct a wall around their females’ dormitory in the name of the Association with the exception of Ola and Holy Child who are yet to do theirs.

OUTREACH

We encountered numerous challenges when we took over from our predecessors and due to that our outreach programme was shifted into the SRC week celebrations and everything went through perfectly. So we were able to embark on the sensitization during their SRC Week Celebration.

CONGRESS

I must say we were very happy when the ball of hosting Congress came to our reach. We took it whole heartedly and worked assiduously in making delegates feel at home though the date scheduled for the congress wasn’t favourable. Elections was conducted and the following personalities were declared winners:

  1. JONES ATTAH MENSAH                                                   PRESIDENT
  2. YVONNE ZELE                                                                     VICE PRESIDENT
  3. FRIMPON MARCO BOAHEN                                           SECRETARY
  4. ANGELINA DANKWA ACQUAH                                      VICE PRESIDENT
  5. SAMUEL DAPAAH                                                             COORDINATOR
  6. ESTHER ACHEAMPONG                                       WOMEN’S COMISSIONER
  7. JOSEPH ADDAE                                                      FINANCIAL SECRETARY
  8. ALICE BAZAANDIRE TIBORE                                            TREASURER
  9. DANIEL FRIMPONG                                              ORGANISING SECRETARY
  10. FELICIA AFFUL                                                    VICE ORGANISING SECRETARY
  11. JOSEPHINE WHITE                                                                     PRM

And since we are hosting the National Congress and the constitution supporting the sector to present a National Vice President, we did our elections at the sector level and Mr Anthony Dadzie won the election. Hence he is the one to be presented to national.

CHALLENGES

  1. The inconsistent change of our five semester academic policy calendar during our era made our meetings very difficult.
  2. Lack of cooperation due to different ideologies among executives
  3. Difficulties in accumulating TTAG Dues from the various colleges

RECOMMENDATIONS

We therefore recommend to the new executives to look into these:

  1. Securing a land which would be used to build a secretariat for the sector.
  2. Forming a sponsorship committee to solicit for assistance from stakeholders in order to embark on any project.
  3. Making sure that, there would be transparency and accountability in their administration.
  4. They should be free, fair and firm in their administration
  5. They should allow God to be their

FINANCES

We were very lucky to inherit one of the wealthy accounts among the five sectors. We placed every necessary measures in place for the various colleges to be billed with TTAG Dues. Lucky for us, all the colleges in the sector were billed with the TTAG Dues. The unfortunate aspect was that we were not able to collect all the dues but be rest assured that all the colleges in the sector have assured assured, that have the dues in their colleges account. By the end when all these monies have been collected, we anticipate that, the new executives would have not less that ten thousand eight hundred Ghana Cedis in addition to the money at hand which is seven thousand three hundred and seventy Ghana Cedis and in totality they are expected to get eighteen thousand one hundred and seventy Ghana Cedis.

APPRECIATION

I stand on behalf of my able executives to thank our ex-officials who helped us in diverse ways for our tenure of office to end successfully. God richly bless you all.

LONG LIVE TTAG

LONG LIVE GHANA

Thank.
